Murder, She Watched:

An Introduction

This is the start for my recap of the series Murder, She Wrote it was a television show that lasted for 12 seasons, between the years 1984 and 1996, with a total of 264 episodes. Once the show was cancelled 4 movies, were released between the years 1997 and 2003. There is also a book series that is still being published as well as two video games released in 2009 and 2012. The show, much like the Golden Girls, seems to be coming back into the popular culture. Currently, July 2, 2019, seasons 1 through 5 are available to watch on Amazon Prime.

The show stared Angela Lansbury as the famous writer Jessica Fletcher, a widow and retired English teacher, who resided in the fictional town of Cabot Cove, Maine where everyone knew each other. This was probably why it had such a high murder rate near the end of the show’s run come to think of it. Jessica along with her various and numerous family and friends, both new and old, uses her exceptional perception abilities as well as her sharp wit to solve the various murders that happen around her. While the show is mainly set in Cabot Cove often times Jessica will travel to other places and get dragged into solving a murder which just so conveniently tends to happen when she shows up. Granted there wouldn’t be a show otherwise but I do wonder if she’s a reaper or something with how much Death seems to enjoy following her around. Then again maybe Death is another admirer of hers since Jessica does seem to collect them like stamps. But then again dead bodies, a green thumb maybe she’s the daughter of Hades and Persephone.

Anyways, with this recap series my plan is to talk about not just the plot but my thoughts on it and the characters. Whenever there is a two parter I will combine them into one post, including any crossovers that happen. If there are any familiar actors that pop up I will mention any previous roles of theirs I am familiar with.

Anyways, check out PushingUpRoses’s video series on Murder She Wrote and Jenny Trout’s The Big Damn Buffy Rewatch both of whom inspired me to do this.
